Project Overview
Mechanico is a comprehensive platform designed to streamline vehicle maintenance and repair services. As the lead designer, I spearheaded the development of high-fidelity mockup designs and interactive prototypes for all four major phases of the project: the Service Provider/Workshop Portal, the Mechanico Super Admin Dashboard, the Motorist Web Portal for booking workshop services, and the main Mechanico website. Through close engagement with product managers and software engineers, I ensured that the design was both feasible and aligned with the project’s goals. Real-world user testing was an integral part of the process, and all feedback received was incorporated to enhance the overall user experience.
Process & Approach
The project began with a thorough understanding of the requirements through detailed discussions with product managers and software engineers. This initial phase also involved conducting a comprehensive competitive analysis across multiple websites and similar platforms to identify gaps and opportunities for the Mechanico brand. Armed with these insights, I developed high-fidelity mockup designs for all major project phases. These designs were not just static visuals but interactive prototypes that allowed for real-world user testing
User feedback was vital in this phase, and the prototypes were tested rigorously. The feedback received was overwhelmingly positive, and all suggestions were incorporated to refine and enhance the user experience further. One of the significant challenges was ensuring a seamless user experience across multiple portals. To address this, I maintained a consistent design language and conducted rigorous user testing to validate the designs.
Collaboration played a crucial role throughout the project. I worked closely with product managers and engineers to ensure that the designs were not only visually appealing but also technically feasible and aligned with the overall project goals. Regular feedback sessions with real-world users provided invaluable insights that guided the iterative improvement of the prototypes.
Results & Reflection
The project was highly successful, resulting in the development of comprehensive high-fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes for all major phases. The thorough competitive analysis conducted at the beginning of the project also proved invaluable, helping to identify unique opportunities for the Mechanico brand. Looking ahead, there are opportunities for continued iteration based on ongoing user feedback and technological advancements. Potential expansions of features could further enhance user engagement and satisfaction, ensuring the platform remains at the forefront of vehicle maintenance and repair services.
