Project Overview
La Ruche Health is a pioneering healthcare initiative focused on enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of health services in Côte D'ivoire. As the lead designer, I collaborated closely with both the product and development teams to significantly improve the product interfaces and overall user experience. Our efforts resulted in a high adoption rate among local health professionals. One of our major milestones was the acceptance of La Ruche Health into the GOOGLE Startup Acceleration program in 2022, a testament to our innovative approach. Additionally, the project garnered substantial funding, with $70,000 awarded by a prominent US based accelerator program in the same year. My primary responsibilities included designing and prototyping an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system for tablets, which was later piloted by the National Cancer Program in Côte D'ivoire, and creating a user-friendly mobile app for patients to access healthcare services. I also undertook the task of redesigning the company website to improve user engagement, resulting in a 10% increase in website visits.

Process & Approach
The project began with a thorough understanding of the requirements through detailed discussions with product managers and software engineers. This initial phase also involved conducting a comprehensive competitive analysis across multiple websites and similar platforms to identify gaps and opportunities for the Mechanico brand. Armed with these insights, I developed high-fidelity mockup designs for all major project phases. These designs were not just static visuals but interactive prototypes that allowed for real-world user testing

One of the significant challenges we faced was ensuring that the EMR system met the diverse needs of health professionals. To address this, I engaged directly with the users, gathering feedback and iteratively improving the prototype until it met their requirements. Another challenge was increasing traction to the website. By implementing user-centered design principles, we were able to significantly enhance the user experience, leading to increased engagement.
Collaboration was key throughout this project. I worked closely with both product and development teams to ensure seamless integration of design and functionality. Additionally, I coordinated with the health Professionals to ensure the EMR system was aligned with their standards and needs
Results & Reflection
Additionally, the project garnered substantial funding, with $70,000 awarded by a prominent US based accelerator program in the same year. My primary responsibilities included designing and prototyping an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system for tablets, which was later piloted by the National Cancel Program in Côte D'ivoire, and creating a user-friendly mobile app for patients to access healthcare services. I also undertook the task of redesigning the company website to improve user engagement, resulting in a 10% increase in website visits.

Feedback from health professionals was overwhelmingly positive, particularly regarding the usability and functionality of the EMR system. Users also appreciated the improved navigation and design of the redesigned website. From this project, I learned the importance of iterative design and the value of incorporating user feedback to refine solutions continuously. Collaboration with stakeholders was crucial in ensuring successful outcomes. Looking forward, there are opportunities for further enhancements to the EMR system based on ongoing user feedback and potential additional features for the mobile app to expand its functionality for patients.
